Nantucket, Mass. - FRESH offers a variety of prepared foods and carefully selected specialty gourmet items so you can enjoy good food, as well as entertain with ease. Conveniently located in town, FRESH is an ideal stop before a beach picnic, backyard barbeque, or cocktail party.
Using locally produced ingredients whenever seasonally possible from island farms and purveyors such as Bartlett Farms and Sayles Seafood, FRESH’s menu features signature and create-your-own sandwiches, a variety of potato, pasta, and green salads, and a rotating prepared hors d’oeuvre and dinner selection. Highlights from the signature sandwich menu include the Nantucket Babe (honey glaze ham, brie, granny smith apples and creamy pommery mustard on honey wheat bread) and N.Y.A (not your average) Lobster Roll (chunks of lobster claw and knuckle meat mixed with fresh dill and lemon zest accented aioli on a toasted Calise kaiser roll). Available to provide for private events, FRESH offers favorites such as shrimp cocktail with a chipotle orange cocktail sauce, smoked salmon with capers and Bermuda onion served on top of organic field greens, seared tuna with ponzu sauce and wasabi accented with wakame seaweed salad, as well as several seafood cakes including lobster, salmon, and crab. To take advantage of Nantucket’s seasonal seafood and produce, FRESH’s prepared foods will change regularly.
Just two blocks from the Straight Wharf, FRESH can be found in what was formerly Barry Thurston’s Tackle Shoppe, a Nantucket landmark for more than 30 years. Owner Josh Harde, a 4th generation summer resident, felt strongly about keeping some the building’s unique history such as the large hand-painted map of Nantucket. Even adding to the long-standing fishing theme of the venue, Harde hung a large school of hand-carved wooden tuna fish from the ceiling.
Specialty items at FRESH include a variety of appetizers, condiments, and side dishes. Cheese lovers can find hard-to-find items such as truffle, an assortment of triple crème cheeses, and cave-aged cheddar. Other epicurean accompaniments include truffle honey, an assortment of chutneys, a variety of antipastos, and pates such as locally-caught bluefish. To make any barbeque special, FRESH offers a unique offering of rubs and marinades, as well as a selection fresh and cryo-vac'd seafood and meats from purveyors including Northeast Family Farms.
Harde attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont where he honed his culinary as well as restaurant operation skills. He has worked at several restaurants and catering establishments on Nantucket including Slip 14, Boarding House, and the Pearl. Managing FRESH with Harde is Chef Tommy Walsh.
